Committed to Helping the Passionate Caregivers
ALZ FOUNDATION was created by the Andrews family back in 2015 when the mother of Alyson Andrews, who was in the early stages of Dementia, came to live and be cared for in our home. This disease of Dementia progressed, and the needs and the care Carol required became more difficult. Alyson as the daughter of Carol was fully responsible and became the guardian and caregiver. I witnessed the decline in Carol, which included eating, sleeping, and bathing.
Activities of daily living slowly but surely declined as the days, weeks, months, and years went on. We, as a family, made it our sole mission and purpose to provide the best care and comfort for Carol. We searched for assistance and resources to better provide, understand and support not only Carol but each other as caregivers.
Alyson ended up having to leave her job in education to be with her Mother and provide the constant care and attention required. This overwhelming and daunting task was accepted with love, compassion, and determination. The 24/7 constant worry, struggles, and devotion placed on Alyson at times were too much to bear alone, and without much support services in our hometown, this caused mental, emotional, and physical harm to her as the caregiver.
Thus, the ALZ FOUNDATION was created for you, the caregiver. With the ALZ FOUNDATION, you are never alone and never without a friend. We are here for you and your loved one who fights Alzheimer’s and Dementia. We remember, and we are with you.
